THE CHILTERN YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE
(Affiliated to The Bedfordshire FA)
Season 2019 – 20 Newsletter – Volume 1 (24.07.19)
Free Sunday Requests – teams need to give a calendar months’ notice of any request for a Free Sunday. Please email your request in accordance with the timelines to Tony Gee (Fixture Secretary) via email@example.com
Half Term Holidays – following the rule change at the AGM, please remember that fixtures will be scheduled on Sundays at the start and end of Half Term. If you wish to request a Free Sunday on one of these dates, please ensure that you do so in accordance with the league rule (as above)
Player Registrations – please note that player registrations are now open and are to be completed via the FA’s Whole Game system. If you require any assistance, please contact Pamela Johnson (Registration Secretary) via firstname.lastname@example.org
Constitutions – the constitution for all age groups has now been completed and locked down, with the new season being updated to the Whole Game System & Full-Time by the Beds FA in conjunction with Tony. We will announce further details when we are ready to release this for public viewing
Full-Time Team Log-In – Tony Gee will be setting up Full-Time log-ins and sending these to managers and administrators so that they will be able to access Full-Time to be able to complete their match day administration. Please keep an eye out for these emails and verify your details within them once received
County Affiliation Numbers – once you have received your club’s affiliation number for the new season, please could you forward to me so that I can update our records
Fixtures – these will be released via Full-Time in due course; Tony will aim to release the first month’s fixtures as soon as possible, but this is not likely to be until mid-August. We require visibility of County Cup fixtures from the various County Associations; please could I ask for those clubs who are affiliated to a County outside of Bedfordshire, that you forward details of your County Cup fixtures to us as soon as you receive them as we do not automatically get notified by those Counties
Referee Appointments – during June we were notified by the Bedfordshire Football Association that they would no longer be operating their Central Appointments System for the coming season. Although disappointed with the timing of the decision, we have moved forwards and are pleased to announce that Steve Chamberlain has been appointed to the position of Referee Appointments Secretary (AM) for the CYFL. Steve has many years of experience of youth football within Bedfordshire and is currently the Chairman of the Referees Committee for the Bedfordshire Football Association and has been a member of the CYFL Management Committee for a number of seasons. Steve will be appointing referees to our AM fixtures (Under 11, 12, 13 and 14) for the coming season and we are pleased to have Steve in post already. He will be reaching out to all referees within Bedfordshire over the coming weeks as he begins to plan for the coming season. Steve’s contact details are 07806 785072 and email@example.com.
We are in discussion around the position for the PM section (Under 15, 16, 17 and 18) and hope to release further details in due course.
At this stage we would like to place our sincere thanks to Mike Desborough who has worked diligently on our referee appointments over the past 3 seasons and are pleased that he will be remaining as part of our Management Committee for the coming season. Mike will also be continuing in his role as Referee Development Officer for Bedfordshire and we hope to continue our close working relationship with Mike with the purpose or recruiting and retaining referees, developing their skill sets as they progress within the game.
Handbook Entries – as with previous seasons, I will require your assistance in ensuring that the details within the Club Directory section of our handbook are accurate and up to date. I will be circulating details of how to update the database in due course and would appreciate your support in completing this section. It really does only take a couple of moments per team and is invaluable in ensuring that the handbook is the source of truth for all league matters for the coming season
Friendly Matches – please remember that if you wish to play friendly matches, you need to contact your County Association to get the match sanctioned. This is to ensure that the game is covered by insurance in the case of injury to players etc.
Club Assistant Referee Training – The Bedfordshire FA are inviting all volunteer assistant referees to a training event on 8th August where you will receive training from an FA Referee Tutor on the basic techniques and skills needed for running the line as a Club Assistant Referee. Anybody is welcome and we would encourage you to join us, brush up on the Laws of The Game relevant to be an assistant referee and enjoy an interactive evening of training and development.
Date: Thursday 8th August
Time: 19:00 – 21:00
Venue: Bedfordshire FA, Skimpot Road, Dunstable, LU5 4JU
